History

Reimerswaal Dredging, a family company, was founded in 1966. That was an era when everything was still done by hand and the crews worked to the point of exhaustion in windy, stormy and freezing cold conditions to get the job done. No hydraulic systems were available back then. The technology is different today, but the company’s work ethic has remained the same. The third generation of the Den Herder family is now active in the company and they too have dredging in their DNA.

Jos den Herder: “Three years after my grandfather had his own ship built, the first Reimerswaal, my father started accompanying him on jobs. He was just thirteen years old at the time. I grew up in the same world. I have never seen or wanted to do anything else. It is both my job and my favourite hobby. I am proud of what my grandfather and father have built; a fantastic company that operates beautiful ships and offers an extensive range of services. I am determined to continue their work with huge passion and pleasure. With the help of today’s technology, fortunately. Our ships are so modern that we can control everything with a smartphone.”

We are a typical family business in that we like to build long-term relationships with our customers. The fact that we have worked with many of our customers for several decades makes us feel proud and privileged.

Innovation

Over the years, we have always invested in new ships, better technological solutions and increased capacity in order to offer our customers even greater quality, speed and flexibility. That is still our policy today. We also know that development never stops, so we will continue to make improvements.
